As part of its mandate, Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA) has issued Certificates of Completion and Fitness for Habitation to another set of building owners who have satisfactorily completed their construction projects in accordance with the State’s building codes.
The certificates of completion and fitness for habitation which indicates that the buildings were satisfactorily completed were issued to owners/ developers of buildings located at No 12, Aborishade Street, Off Lawanson Mushin and Plot 7A/7B 1st Avenue, Ikoyi Lagos.
Speaking at the presentation, the General Manager Arc. Gbolahan Oki who was represented by the Director, Inspectorate and Quality Control Lagos Island Division, Engr. Babajide Quadri said that owners/developers must ensure that the buildings are maintained consistently, or risk withdrawal of the Certificate.
He maintained that owners / developers must involve LASBCA in carrying out renovations or re-engineering after they must have obtained necessary permits from the Lagos State Physical Planning Permit Authority (LASPPPA) so as to ensure that such alternation is done in accordance with the building codes of the State.
He noted that since inception, LASBCA has been instrumental in promoting safe and habitable buildings in the State and will continue to do so by conducting strict and regular checks in every nook and cranny of the State as well as educating the building Public on the need to build right and accordance with the building codes of the State.
The General Manager also called on owners /developers of existing and new buildings who are yet to obtain the Certificate of Completion and Fitness for Habitation to visit any LASBCA office nearest to them to start the process of obtaining the Certificate.
