SHODEINDE CHARGED LASBCA OFFICERS ON ENSURING COMPLIANCE TO BUILDING REGULATIONS.

Officers of the Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA) were today charged to enforce and compel compliance to building regulations by making sure that property owners and developers adheres strictly to the laid down rules and regulations guiding building constructions in Lagos State.

Permanent Secretary, Office of Urban Development, Engr. Shodeinde Nurudeen gave the charge during his working visit to LASBCA Headquarters at Oba Akinjobi Way, Ikeja, GRA.

Shodeinde while admonishing officers of the Agency tasked them to shun illegality by making sure that due diligence is followed to the latter by property owners/developers in order to safeguard lives and properties and generally reduce building collapse to the barest minimum in Lagos State.

“The main reason for the establishment of LASBCA is solely for conformity purposes as this will help promote legality as regards building construction in the State” he stated.

Shodeinde said further “the safety of lives and properties of the citizen by the State Government is paramount, therefore, the Building Codes of the State must be strictly adhered to by the property owners and developers”.

Shodeinde who applauded the officers on their efforts in bringing sanity into the Built Environment of the State implored them to be conformity conscious as this will help in the full actualization of LASBCA’s set Mandates.

The General Manager, LASBCA, Arc. Gbolahan Oki on his part urged the officers to ensure that illegal and non-conforming buildings across the State are fully identified and owners/developers are compelled to follow the due process of the State Building Laws as this will help to bring about compliance and boost legality.

Oki further reiterated LASBCA’s commitment at riddening the state of illegal and non-conforming buildings through thorough monitoring, identification and enforcement activities by its resilient, dedicated and proactive officers.

Officers took turn to highlight and explained their work processes to the Permanent Secretary.

The meeting had in attendance Heads of various Departments/Units of the Agency, District Heads of both Inspectorate and Quality Control (I & Q.C) and Post Construction Audit (P.C.A.) of LASBCA.
