The Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA) has resealed eight buildings across estates in Ikota area of Eti-Osa, Lagos.
The enforcement action was prompted by the persistent violation of state building code and breaking of government seals by property owners and developers.
The agency had previously issued various notices, including Contravention Notice, Stop Work Notice, Seal Up Notice, and Demolition Notice, to the concerned property owners.
Arc. Gbolahan Owodunni Oki, the General Manager of LASBCA, expressed his dissatisfaction with property owners and developers who flout the state’s building codes. Speaking from his office in Ikeja GRA, Arc. Oki underscored the importance of adherence to regulations to ensure the structural integrity and safety of buildings in the state.
Arc. Oki highlights that, contraventions identified by the agency ranged from unauthorized construction activities to deviations from approved building plans.
He also noted that such violations pose serious risks to occupants and neighboring structures, necessitating decisive action by the agency.
Arc. Oki, reiterated that the sealing of eight buildings serves as a strong deterrent, sending a clear message that non-compliance will not be tolerated. “We are commitment to maintaining high standards in construction aligns with the broader goal of creating a safe and resilient urban environment”. He said.
